Blake's College Football Corner

It's never too early to start scouting for Fantasy Football. Tim is teaming up with Blake, a life-time sports fan and college football enthusiast to evaluate the top talent in the country. Detailed evaluations, pro comparisons, and team-fits will be provided from both analysts.

This list will feature the top players at each fantasy-relevant position. Each list will be constantly updated/added to as the season progresses and more information becomes available.

Quarterbacks:

1. Spencer Rattler - Oklahoma

Size: 6'1", 205 lbs

Blake's Evaluation: Strong arm, excellent precision, very impressive throw on the run ability, delivers dimes on the deep ball, leads his receivers well, can make plays with legs, good change of direction runner, senses pressure well, utilizes his check-downs... Although he’s good outside the pocket, he would benefit from hanging in there longer when it’s clean, Rattler needs to make quicker progressions and not stare down where he wants to go, lastly: ball security, ball security, oh, and did I mention ball security?

Blake's Pro Comp: Patrick Mahomes

Team Fits: Eagles, WFT, Lions

Tim's Evaluation: Strong arm with lots of throw power, quick release, uncanny ability to make on-target passes on off-balance throws, great escapability in the pocket, able to extend plays with his legs but keeps his eyes downfield like a true QB, makes difficult throws in tight windows, not afraid to give his receiver a chance, this tends to get him into trouble trying to force throws that aren't there, makes them more often than he misses them however, keeps the defense honest because excellent athleticism/elusiveness running the football has to be taken into account every play, makes him deadly on play-action/read-option plays, can make every throw (back-shoulder, deep ball, quick throws on outs & slants, on the run) with tremendous accuracy

Tim's Pro Comp: Russell Wilson

Team Fits: Falcons, Dolphins, Broncos

2. Carson Strong - Nevada

Size: 6'4", 215 lbs

Blake's Evaluation: strong arm, elite passer, quick progressions and release, makes difficult throws look effortless, extremely accurate, great deep ball, fits the ball in tight windows, good size, traditional pocket passer with the mobility to avoid the rush although not much of a threat on the ground cons not many I would say throwing on the run he’s not the greatest athlete so working on scrambling when he needs to. He needs to be a little more cautious about some of the throws he makes in the red zone if he wants to be successful at the next level. Sometimes takes unnecessary risks for the big play. Pressure can also cause some problems for him, needs to try and force less throws at the next level. One weakness is also lack of competition in the MWC, I think he has the talent to go top 10, even being one of the first QBs taken

Blake's Pro Comp: Big Ben

Blake's Team Fits: Steelers, Saints, Broncos

3. Sam Howell - University of North Carolina

Size: 6'1", 225 lbs

Blake's Evaluation: pocket passer with the ability to create, great arm talent, good footwork, ok athlete extends plays well when needed to.  can put the ball in tight areas, however at the next level may want to not force it.  not the arm strength of say Carson strong or josh Allen but above average non the less, great accuracy, movement around the pocket is good however he should climb the pocket more rather than drifting if he wants to be super successful in the next level. Leads his receivers well, also can tuck and run when called upon to do so. The question about him really lies on how he would do on a offense geared more towards the next level with less RPOs on every down. Can work on game management for instance not taking sacks in the red zone instead throwing away. We will see how this season turns out but he has the potential to be the first QB taken in 2022

Blake's Pro Comp: Baker Mayfield

Blake's Team Fits: Eagles could be a potential fit based on how hurts does, WFT for sure

4. Malik Willis - Liberty

Size: 6'1", 215 lbs

Blake's evaluation: Exceptional athlete, cannon arm, Josh Allen type plays, decent size, exceptional mobility. Quick and sudden movements spring big plays especially with his phenomenal change of direction. Can fire the ball into tight windows, very creative, Needs to work on decision making to excel at the next level. Sometimes to quick to leave the pocket needs to settle more. As good as the arm talent is accuracy needs to be an improvement, needs to have better ball security. With consistency and slight improvement I can see Willis going first round and even in top 10 of next years draft, decent deep ball

Blake's Pro comp: Jalen Hurts

Blake's Team Fits: Eagles, Dolphins

Runningbacks

Breece Hall - Iowa State

Size: 6'1", 220 lbs

Tim's Evaluation: Great athleticism and explosiveness, good speed and one cut vision, (great game speed, often walks into endzone) strong after contact, often carries defenders for a few yards, good patience, good size, natural tackle breaking ability looks like it will translate to next level, finishes runs, makes defenders miss at every level, good receiver, huge vertical allows him to leap pile with ease, three-down potential as a pro. Athletic freak

Tim's Pro Comp: D'Andre Swift, Todd Gurley

Tim's Team Fits: Bills, Dolphins, Chiefs

Kennedy Brooks - Oklahoma

Size: 5'11", 216 lbs

Tim's Evaluation: Prototypical size, Elite BCV, big play waiting to happen, patient runner, always seems to be one cut away from a TD, major nose for the end-zone, his runs look effortless, easily avoids arm tackles, no stranger to breaking multiple tackles per run, ideal long distance speed (game speed), hard to stop once he gets going downhill, seems to possess the right combo of intangibles (pacing, toughness, etc.) His play style gives him an excellent chance of being a workhorse back at next level.

Tim's Pro Comp: Nick Chubb, Joe Mixon

Tim's Team Fits: Bills, Rams, Texans

Bijan Robinson - Texas

Size: 6'0", 214 lbs

Tim's Evaluation:

Tim's Pro Comp:

Tim's Team Fits:

Tank Bigsby - Auburn

Size: 6'0", 207 lbs

Tim's Evaluation: Elite tackle breaking ability, rarely tackled by first defender to make contact, good BCV
lacks breakaway speed, still young (true freshman last season), just scratching the surface of what he's capable of

Tim's Pro Comp: Leonard Fournette

Tim'sTeam Fits: Patriots, Saints

Duece Vaughn - Kansas State

Size: 5'6", 172 lbs

Tim's Evaluation: Magician-like elusiveness, great BC vision, first class receiving ability, breakaway speed, very undersized

Tim's Pro Comp: Nyheim Hines

Tim's
Team Fits:  49ers, Patriots, Eagles

Jerrion Ealy - Ole Miss

Size: 5'9", 185 lbs

Tim's Evaluation: Seems to be volume dependent, average game speed, nothing electrifying but has some burst, great receiving ability, not much of a tackle breaker but has his moments, decent after contact, one of the best in the nation but nothing that jumps off the screen, receives a lot of help pushing the pile from his linemen, one thing i will say is he doesn’t go down right away which allows for that, good physicality, always protecting the football on contact which is good to see, 147 carries without a fumble, second-most in nation, not very elusive, hardly ever makes two defenders miss, good strength, always getting downhill

Tim's Pro Comp: James Conner

Tim's Team Fits: Falcons, Jets, Saints
