Tim's Takeaways: Week 16
Check back here every week to listen to Tim: analyze what we saw, discuss who's trending up or down, and jump to some wild conclusions.
Amon Ra WR1 szn After a monstrous performance in week two (nine rec. 119 yards, two TDs, 68 rushing yards, 39.4 fantasy points) Amon-Ra St. Brown joined elite company becoming the third player in NFL history with eight consecutive games of 8+ catches. The other two? Michael Thomas and Antonio Brown. Not bad kid… What’s scary is, his week two could’ve been even more monstrous had Goff not missed him in the end-zone in the first quarter. St. Brown has enjoyed a 30+ percent target share in each of the first two games of 2022, and now has six consecutive games with a TD. He is firmly locked in as a weekly WR1 until further notice. Wentz QB1 szn? Wentz has 27 points in back-to-back weeks, 600+ yards and seven TDs currently sitting at QB3 overall. Lets keep in mind he played the Jags and Lions weeks one and two, but that doesn’t necessarily mean we shouldn’t take anything away from him. Wentz has possibly the most loaded stable of weapons he’s ever had between Terry McLaurin, Curtis Samuel, Jahan Dotson, Antonio Gibson, Logan Thomas and JD McKissic. It’s not a stretch to say someone will eat every week. They pretty much all have already. It won’t always be pretty, but if you like fantasy points and you’re someone who drafted Dak Prescott, Joe Burrow, Trey Lance or Tom Brady, you have to admit he’s at least worth consideration. Is the RB position dead? Out of the top-20 fantasy scorers on Sunday, only two were RBs. To make matters worse, those two were second-round RBs (Nick Chubb, Aaron Jones). After all the preaching I’ve done about the importance of the RB position in the first round… Could it be that I was wrong? Well, I never have been before… But I suppose anything is possible. There’s still time for me to be right. But through two games, Cooper Kupp, Tyreek Hill, Stefon Diggs, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jaylen Waddle have outscored the next closest first-round RB (according to ADP) by nearly 30 points. After the Jonathan Taylor dud on Sunday, there are currently two first-round RBs averaging more than 15 points per game. Could we be witnessing the death of the RB position? Could we be transitioning into the era of the first-round WR? Stay tuned. Tim's top three takeaways for each week can be found in 'The Playbook' brought to you by CommishFFP !
